Pallet Flow Rack

High density with automatic FIFO rotation. Pallet flow rack stores pallets many deep on inclined gravity lanes. Load at the back, and pallets roll gently down to the pick face on their own as stock is removed. Valley designs, sells, and installs pallet flow systems across Youngstown and Northeast Ohio, engineered to your pallet weights and throughput, with stamped permit drawings, turnkey installation, and 24-hour rack repair.

High Density, Automatic FIFO

Pallet flow rack combines deep, aisle-free storage with built-in stock rotation. Each lane is a set of inclined gravity roller tracks: full pallets go in at the load end and roll down to the pick face as the pallets ahead are removed, so the oldest product is always picked first. Speed controllers keep the descent gentle and pallets separated. The result is dense storage, fast throughput, and dependable FIFO, which suits food, beverage, and any date-sensitive operation. Valley engineers the slope, lane depth, and wheel type around your pallet weights and product flow, produces stamped permit drawings, and installs it turnkey across Northeast Ohio.

What Makes Up a Pallet Flow System

Inclined gravity lanes carry pallets from load to pick. Here's what goes into it.

Deep Upright Frames

Braced upright frames run the full lane depth and carry the load of every pallet stored behind the pick face.

Inclined Roller Lanes

Gravity roller or skate-wheel tracks set on a precise slope, so pallets ride from the load end down to the pick end on their own.

Speed Controllers & Brakes

Integrated controllers regulate the descent so pallets travel at a safe speed and stay separated for clean, damage-free picking.

Load & Pick Beams

Front (pick) and rear (load) beams anchor each lane, with entry/exit guides that align pallets onto the tracks.

Pallet Flow Rack Questions

What is pallet flow rack, and what is it good for?

Pallet flow rack is a high-density system built on inclined gravity roller or wheel lanes. You load pallets at the high back end and they roll down the slope to the low pick face at the front, so the system rotates first-in-first-out (FIFO) on its own. It stores pallets many deep with no aisles in between, which makes it a strong fit for high-throughput and date-sensitive product. Valley designs, sells, and installs it across Northeast Ohio.

How does pallet flow rack actually work?

Each lane is a set of slightly inclined roller or skate-wheel tracks. You load full pallets at the back, and gravity carries them down to the front pick face as the pallets ahead get removed. Speed controllers and brakes meter the descent so pallets arrive gently and stay separated. Because loading and picking happen at opposite ends, the oldest stock always gets picked first, which is true FIFO rotation.

Should I use pallet flow instead of push-back or drive-in rack?

Reach for pallet flow when you need high density and strict FIFO rotation at the same time, which is common with food, beverage, and other date-sensitive product moving in volume. Push-back and drive-in pack in more pallets per dollar, but they run LIFO (last in, first out). If rotation matters and you move a lot of pallets, flow rack pays for itself in labor and less expired product. Valley will model the options against your SKUs and flow. Give us a call at 888-952-7536.

How much does pallet racking cost?

Pallet racking cost depends on the system type, capacity, height, and number of bays. Selective rack is the most economical per position, while high-density systems like push-back and pallet flow cost more but store more in less space. Valley designs to your budget and gives a firm quote. Call 888-952-7536 for pricing on your project.

What type of pallet racking is best for my warehouse?

The right system depends on your SKU count, pallet volume, and rotation needs: selective rack for direct access to mixed SKUs, drive-in for high-density LIFO, push-back for density with selectivity, pallet flow for FIFO throughput, and cantilever for long loads. Valley designs the layout around how your operation actually runs across Northeast Ohio.

Can damaged pallet racking be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?

Forklift-damaged rack can usually be repaired rather than fully replaced. Valley provides engineered column repair kits, front-column and sub-frame replacement, and load-beam repair to restore rated capacity, with cooler/freezer engineer stamps available. We run 24-hour emergency rack repair across Northeast Ohio. Call 888-952-7536.
