Pallet Flow Rack

Pallet flow rack is a high-density system built on inclined gravity roller or wheel lanes. You load pallets at the high back end and they roll down the slope to the low pick face at the front, so the system rotates first-in-first-out (FIFO) on its own. It stores pallets many deep with no aisles in between, which makes it a strong fit for high-throughput and date-sensitive product. Valley designs, sells, and installs it across Northeast Ohio.

Each lane is a set of slightly inclined roller or skate-wheel tracks. You load full pallets at the back, and gravity carries them down to the front pick face as the pallets ahead get removed. Speed controllers and brakes meter the descent so pallets arrive gently and stay separated. Because loading and picking happen at opposite ends, the oldest stock always gets picked first, which is true FIFO rotation.

Reach for pallet flow when you need high density and strict FIFO rotation at the same time, which is common with food, beverage, and other date-sensitive product moving in volume. Push-back and drive-in pack in more pallets per dollar, but they run LIFO (last in, first out).
